Google ‘most expensive hotels in the USA.’
Here’s a sampling of what you’ll find:
Waldorf Astoria, New York - One Bedroom Suite, from $2,756/night
Dupont Circle, D.C. - Penthouse Suite, $3,167/night
The Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay CA - Ocean Balcony Suite, $3,196
Four Seasons, Surfside Florida - Ocean View Corner, $3,830
Not in your budget?
If someone told you they routinely paid these rates locally for far more spartan accommodations, could you guess where they stayed?
Open Friday’s JS and check out the ‘tombstone’ ads (no irony there!) on pgs. 8A & 9A; i.e., Notice of Hospital Price Increases.
Depending on the location, (just) Room & Board charges range from $3,180/night (suburban) to $3,950 (flagship/main campus); intensive care for those same locations are $4,340 to $8,130.
And those are after 5-6% increases.
Phew.
Thank goodness they showed some restraint!
